West Nile Virus (WNV)

West Nile Virus belongs to the  Flaviviridae family and can cause inflammation of the brain in some cases. Transmitted by mosquitoes, West Nile Virus is similar to St. Louis Encephalitis Virus in that cases occur most often at the beginning of summer. Symptoms can arise anywhere from two to fifteen days after infection.
