Monoclonal and Polyclonal Antibodies

ZeptoMetrix MONOBODIES™ product line includes Monoclonal Antibodies and Polyclonal Antibodies.

Our MONOBODIES™ are powerful immunochemical tools that can be used in a variety of applications including ELISAs (enzyme linked immunosorbent assays), immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, and other immunohistochemistry techniques.

Monoclonal Antibodies

The production of monoclonal antibodies starts with immunization of mice with viral lysate, progresses through the generation of hybridomas that express the target antibody into serum-free culture media, and ends with antibody purification using affinity chromatography. Monoclonal antibodies offer advantages over polyclonal antibodies because they are intrinsically more homogeneous and possess enhanced binding specificity to the antigenic epitope of interest.

Polyclonal Antibodies

ZeptoMetrix polyclonal antibodies originate in animals immunized with a virus or derivative (such as a viral lysate). The antisera obtained from the animal is then chromatographically processed to isolate the antibodies. Polyclonal antibodies have some advantages over monoclonal antibodies in that they offer a higher overall antibody affinity against the target antigen due to their combined ability to recognize multiple epitopes on the antigen.

ZeptoMetrix offers a variety of standard antibody products and can often customize these offerings to individualized needs. Contact us today to learn more about our Immunology portfolio and antibody products.
