Terpenes and Flavonoids
TERPENES
Terpenes are the common term for a large group of compounds that contribute to flavor and smell of botanical products which are structurally based on isoprene or 2-methyl-1,3-butadiene units. The diversity of terpenes and terpenoids are recognized by all the range of scents and flavors they produce. The terpene profiles of many plants including cannabis can be used as method of strain identification or as a tool to promote flavor and fragrance aspects of consumer products.
Spex® Certiprep offers terpene standards for all your terpene analyses.
FLAVONOIDS
Flavonoids are naturally occurring secondary metabolic products which can have important functions within plants and benefit consumers with health and healing properties. Many beneficial compounds are metabolites produced as an end product of chemical and biological processes that have functions including defense, pigments, pheromones, odorants, and catalysts.
Spex® Certiprep offers standards for flavonoids including a mix designed for cannabis products.
