Density

Density is the fundamental property of chemistry and physics that defines the mass of a unit volume of a substance. That is usually 1 cubic centimeter of a solid, or 1mL of a liquid. The more tightly packed the atoms, and the higher their molecular weight and the greater the density. Various factors influence a substance’s density, including temperature, pressure, purity and the state of matter. Most substances are denser as a solid than a liquid, water being a rare and important exception. It is commonly used in industries such as construction, engineering, and chemistry to characterize and analyze materials, helping to predict their behavior under different conditions.
