Description
Determine the presence of SIV antibodies in serum or plasmaSimian Immunodeficiency Virus (SIV) infection in monkeys has become the best animal model for studying the pathogenesis of and efficacy of vaccines against HIV infection in humans. Nitrocellulose strips contain SIVMAC viral proteins resulting from electrophoresis and electroblotting of detergent disrupted virus particles. Individual strips are reacted with diluted serum or plasma specimens. If specific SIV antibodies are present, they will bind to the SIV proteins on the nitrocellulose
