ZeptoMetrix polyclonal antibodies are derived from animals immunized with a virus or viral derivative (such as a viral lysate). The antisera obtained is chromatographically processed to isolate the antibodies. Polyclonal antibodies provide higher overall affinity against the target antigen due to their ability to recognize multiple epitopes.
Monoclonal antibody production begins with immunization of mice using viral lysates, followed by generation of hybridomas that express the target antibody into serum-free culture media, and purification using affinity chromatography. Monoclonal antibodies are intrinsically homogeneous and possess enhanced binding specificity to the antigenic epitope of interest.
